Term used to refer to a variety of sexual practices that reduce the risk of transmitting or catching HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). For example: (1) Sexual practices that do not involve the exchange of bodily fluids, including blood, sperm, vaginal secretions and saliva. (2) Sex without penetration, or sex using latex condoms and Nonoxynol-9 spermacide and/or vaginal dams. (3) Monogamy.
