External debt stocks (% of GNI)

The outstanding net amount of those current,and not contingent, liabilities owed to non residents by residents of an economy that require payments either of principal and/or interest by the debt or at some point in the future. Residents comprise the general government, individuals, private non-profit bodies and enterprises. Indicator calculations: Percentage of GDP figures are based on GDP in current United States dollars.
