Year of gross forest cover loss event (2000-2020) - Highlight 2020

Forest loss during the period 2000–2020, defined as a stand-replacement disturbance, or a change from a forest to non-forest state. Encoded as either 0 (no loss) or else a value in the range 1–20, representing loss detected primarily in the year 2001–2020, respectively. The data indicates the year where forest loss primarily occurred (based on year 2000 forest cover) for all global land areas (outside of the polar regions) at 30 × 30 meter resolution. The data is derived from analysing over 600,000 multispectral Landsat 7 EMT+ satellite images in Google Earth Engine.
