source_abstract The World Glacier Inventory (WGI) database is a snapshot of the glacier distribution in the second half of the 20th century as point shapefile, that contains information for over 130,000 glaciers, mainly based on aerial photographs and maps. Attribute fields include geographic location, area, length, orientation, elevation and classification of morphological type and moraines. The inventory entries are based on a single observation in time and can be viewed as a ‘snapshot’ of the glacier at this time. The original file has been downloaded as .csv file (https://nsidc.org/data/g01130). It has then been exported into a shapefile from QGIS 3.18 on 09.03.2021.
