| source_abstract | The 1972 World Heritage Convention links together in a single document the concepts of nature conservation and the preservation of cultural properties. The Convention recognizes the way in which people interact with nature, and the fundamental need to preserve the balance between the two. The World Heritage Committee defined the criteria on the basis of which a property belonging to the cultural or natural heritage may be included in either of the lists: • The World Heritage List: a list of properties forming part of the cultural heritage and natural heritage which it considers as having outstanding universal value. • The List of World Heritage in Danger: the list may include only such property forming part of the cultural and natural heritage as is threatened by serious and specific danger.
