Prevalence of overweight and obesity - Male overweight (SCP Indicator 25)

This indicator measures the share of a country’s population with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 kg/m2 or higher (>18 years old), and therefore classified as overweight (a person with a BMI >30 is classified as obese). Usually related to dietary behaviours, trends in the number of overweight and obese people provide an indication of unsustainability in food consumption (i.e., overconsumption). This indicator is tracked by MedWaves (UNEP/MAP SCP/RAC) and is part of the Regional Action Plan on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in the Mediterranean. For more information, please check the Action Plan on SCP in the Mediterranean Factsheet n.25 (Social health) available at https://switchmed.eu/policy/indicator-factsheets-on-scp-in-the-mediterranean/
