World Database on Protected Areas of Democratic Republic of Congo - IUCN categories (WCMC, 2017)

IUCN protected area management categories classify protected areas according to their management objectives. The categories are recognised by international bodies such as the United Nations and by many national governments as the global standard for defining and recording protected areas and as such are increasingly being incorporated into government legislation.

source_abstract The World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA) is the only global database of protected areas. It is a joint effort between IUCN and UNEP, managed by UNEP-WCMC, to compile protected area information for all countries in the world from governments and other authoritative organizations which are referred to as data providers. The WDPA underpins Protected Planet at www.protectedplanet.net, where it can be viewed and downloaded and the database is integrated with other relevant information.
