Mediterranean countries lack sustainable and regular funding for biodiversity and ecosystem protection. In 2018, total official development assistance for biodiversity received in the Mediterranean region (9 countries) was about 350 million constant 2018 US dollars, equivalent to 1.1 dollars per capita.
