Marine Proportional Range Rarity (Aquamaps)

The AquaMaps model provides the relative probability of occurrence (0.0-1.0) of a species on a global grid of half degree latitude-by-longitude cells. The data show here uses a probability threshold of 0.5 to define species presence for > 25,000 species from the AquaMaps dataset (see Venegas-Li 2019 below) as this threshold was found to be conservative in defining the core area that a species occupies. The value of each pixel represents the estimated total number of marine species that occur within that cell.
