| source_abstract | Vegetation Fractional Cover represents the exposed proportion of Photosynthetic Vegetation (PV), Non-Photosynthetic Vegetation (NPV) and Bare Soil (BS) within each pixel. The sum of the three fractions is 100% (+/- 3%) and shown in Red/Green/Blue colors. The study area covers two mines (Bipasi and Kazibe) located to the west of Kamituga, a mining town in the province of South Kivu in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Vegetation Fractional Cover was calculated by UNEP/GRID-Geneva (2021) using Sentinel-2 images covering the period from June to August. |
