Energy intensity - Period 2005 - 2017 (SCP Indicator 8)

Energy intensity is defined as the energy supplied to the economy per unit value of economic output; in other words, energy intensity measured as primary energy supply divided by GDP (usually measured at purchasing power parity, MJ or Toe/$ PPP GDP). This is an indication of how much energy is used to produce one unit of economic output. This indicator is tracked by MedWaves (UNEP/MAP SCP/RAC) and is part of the Regional Action Plan on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in the Mediterranean.
