Domestic material consumption per capita (SCP Indicator 17B)

Domestic material consumption (DMC) measures the total amount of materials, in tonnes, used by an economy (i.e., the annual quantity of raw materials extracted from the domestic territory, plus all physical imports and minus all physical exports). Per-capita DMC describes the average level of material use in an economy. This indicator is tracked by MedWaves (UNEP/MAP SCP/RAC) and is part of the Regional Action Plan on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in the Mediterranean.
