Domestic material consumption in 2017 (MSSD Indicator 23)

Despite the diversity of their Domestical Material Consumption, the Mediterranean countries start a relative decoupling of their economic growth. In the period 2000–2017, the Mediterranean economy achieved a “relative decoupling” of economic growth from resource use (fossil fuels, metal ores, industrial and construction minerals, biomass): income or GDP of most Mediterranean countries increased faster than the amount of materials used in the Mediterranean countries.
