Central and Eastern Europe Regional Workshop on Mainstreaming Biosafety into National Measures

Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), this workshop will seek to identify strategies and actions to mainstream biosafety into national measures and strengthen the capacities of Parties in the Central and Eastern European Region to effectively implement the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety. The workshop will: take stock of the status of implementation of the Protocol in the region and share experiences and lessons learned in the mainstreaming of national measures; identify mechanisms to improve Parties' legal and administrative measures to implement obligations under the Protocol; and promote awareness of the objective and core requirements of the Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on Liability and Redress and review the challenges and opportunities with regard to its ratification and implementation.
