Workshop on Pilot testing of guidelines for updating of NIPs to address the new POPs in Nigeria

National Inception Workshop on Pilot testing of guidelines for updating of national implementation plans to address the new persistent organic pollutants in Nigeria was held 7 - 8 March 2012 in Abuja, Nigeria.The objective of the workshop was to 1) introduce to participants the guidelines for National Implementation Plan (NIP) updating and related training materials and gather their feedback for revision of the guidelines; 2) facilitate project coordination by bringing together the project task teams, national stakeholders and international experts; 3) gather experience and competence, and further facilitate national discussions on updating the NIP to address the new Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in Nigeria; and 4) conduct preliminary inventory activities for PBDE and management frames of PBDE containing material flows including EEE/WEEE polymers and end-of-life vehicles.
