Workshop on National Reporting and Inventory of the Basel Convention for Latin America and the Caribbean

The Secretariat of the Basel Convention and Basel Convention Regional Centre for Training and Technology Transfer for the Central American sub-region including Mexico have organized a three-day workshop for Parties to the Convention of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Workshop took place in San Salvador, El Salvador, from 17 to 19 July 2012.The event covered national reporting, waste classification, national inventory and national reporting from the national level perspective. Participants were invited to exchange knowledge and experiences through lectures, exercises and group discussions.Representatives from Mexico, Colombia, Cuba and Costa Rica gave presentations about their implementation of the Convention, highlighting their national processes, information on data collection and available facilities, lessons learned and the current challenges they face in these areas.Representatives of 17 Latin American and Caribbean Parties took part in the workshop.The European Commission, the government of Norway and the Secretariat of the Basel Convention provided financial support for this workshop.The proceedings with the outcome of this event can be found here in English and in Spanish.
