Regional Capacity-Building Workshop for the Pacific Region on Traditional Knowledge and Customary Sustainable Use under the CBD

At this workshop, participants will consider, among other items: the CBD Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and the Aichi Biodiversity Targets; participation of indigenous and local communities (ILCs) in the work of the Convention; Articles 8(j) (traditional knowledge), 10(c) (customary sustainable use) and related provisions, and current work in preparation for the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 12); the Joint Programme of Work between the CBD Secretariat and the UN Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on Biological and Cultural Diversity and ILCs; and ILCs and the Nagoya Protocol.
