The World’s Protected Areas: Status, Values and Prospects in the 21st Century

Because of the nature of the changes affecting the world's protected areas it is essential that we periodically make the effort to review their status and to understand the challenges that these special places face. This is what The World's Protected Areas aims to do. It not only provides us with a status report of our progress in establishing protected areas, but also discusses their role in biodiversity conservation, the threats they face, and the complex issues of management.
