Situation Analysis on Marine Protected Areas in the East Asian Seas - 2022

The objectives of this study were to (i) Define the focus, scope, and activities of a COBSEA network of MPAs to strengthen biodiversity conservation and increase resilience to adverse impacts of climate change; (ii) Provide adequate information to the 25th COBSEA Intergovernmental Meeting for countries to decide upon further efforts towards establishing a COBSEA network of MPAs; and (iii) Identify key challenges, obstacles and opportunities to establish MPA network(s) in the regions.
