The present document aims at providing, for the benefits of the negotiation during the intergovernmental conference, practical information on how the selected regional seas conventions that cover areas beyond national jurisdiction identify, assess, designate and develop management programmes for, areas for applying their area-based management tools, including marine protected areas.
