Enterprise-Level Indicators for Resource Productivity and Pollution Intensity: A Primer for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

This Primer has been developed specifically to promote and support the implementation of RECP practices and technologies in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing and transition countries. For National Cleaner Production Centers (NCPCs) and other RECP service providers, the Primer will provide a basis for quantifying the results of their RECP services to companies. The Primer may also serve as a basis for the development or enhancement of NCPC services that are offered to companies and can contribute to the promotion of RECP services. This Primer enables companies to establish RECP profiles based on their use of resources and the pollution caused relative to the scale of production. The first-time application will result in a baseline which can be used to target RECP initiatives, and periodic reapplication will reveal improvements over time as a result of RECP initiatives. The Primer also contains suggestions on how achievements can be presented and reported.
