Renewable Energy and Women Entrepreneurship Programmes: A Guidebook in Design and Implementation

This guidebook will attempt to highlight the essential factors that need to be incorporated in setting up a women’s renewable energy-based enterprise in rural areas. This includes two different types of RE enterprises: RE for Enterprise: Using renewable energy for livelihood options, and RE as Enterprise: Selling RE products and services. It serves as a user-friendly tool for project developers who are planning to implement both type of projects and for donors interested in funding the same. The guidebook has been informed by best practices of successfully implemented projects in developing countries, particularly in South East Asia. It focuses on renewable energy enterprises which empower women economically and socially, and defines the essential steps needed to be undertaken as part of planning for similar initiatives.
