Procedure for Air Monitoring using Active Air Samplers (HVS)

“Sampling methods for air and QA/QC procedures should, as far as possible, be adopted from existing air monitoring programmes1 for POPs, but they will need to be adapted to and validated for the specific conditions, concentration levels and temperature at the sampling sites.” This document therefore comprises, as a contribution to the capacity building efforts under the Global Monitoring Plan under the Stockholm Convention by the Stockholm Convention Regional Centre in the Czech Republic, a description of the operation procedure and methodology for sampling of ambient air by active sampler as a first attempt to bring key steps into one document. As there are several monitoring programmes, each of them using different type of active sampler, we are hereby describing a case study example of the device Leckel MVS-6 (middle volume sampler) used in the sampling sites in Africa.
