Progress in the Implementation of the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities at the International, Regional and National Levels during the period 2019–2021: Note by the Secretariat

The Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities (GPA), adopted through the Washington Declaration in 1995, is a multilateral environmental mechanism aimed at preventing degradation of the marine environment from land-based activities by assisting Governments to preserve and protect the marine environment. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) provides secretariat services through the Global Programme of Action Coordination Office.
