Technical captafol is a light tan powder with a characteristic odour. It is stable at room temperature in the dry state, but is readily bydrolysed, especially in an alkaline environment. The melting point of the pure compound is 162 °C; a range of 156-161 °C has been recorded for the technical product. The vapour pressure at room temperature is negligible.
