This geographic object represents the blue water footprint, on the Continental and Insular Territory Area of Colombia. This classification corresponds to data from the agricultural, domestic, industrial, energy generation and oil extraction sectors in 2012. The Blue Water Footprint seeks to represent the water extracted from surface and underground water bodies, which is used in the productive activities of the mentioned sectors and that does not return to the basin. It represents the categorization by hydrographic sub-areas of the blue water footprint, and indicates the conditions or vulnerabilities related to possible competition for water in each of the hydrographic subzones of Colombia that require the evaluation of various types of sectors, including those use here. Six categories measured in millions of cubic meters per year were used. The results of this index are grouped into six (6) categories ranging from 0 to 200.0 - 529.1. These are estimated values based on secondary information for the year 2012, which is the reference year of the results of the 2014 National Water Study.
