Total number of IDPs (Conflict and violence) as of 31/12/2018 (IDMC, 2019)

This layer shows the Total number of Internally Displaced Persons in consequence of conflicts and violences as of 31/12/2018 by countries. It has been produced by joining the Global Internal Displacement Database (GIDD) provided by the Internal Displaced Monitoring Centre (IDMC) with the administrative layer at country level provided by the UN Cartographic Section, simplified using the Douglas-Peucker simplification algorithm (0.001 threshold value).

The database aims to provide comprehensive information on internal displacement worldwide. It covers all countries and territories for which IDMC has obtained data on situations of internal displacement, and provides data on situations of:

Internal displacement associated with conflict and generalized violence (2003-2016); Displacement associated with sudden-onset natural hazard-related disasters (2008-2016); and Modelled disaster-related displacement risk metrics for more than 200 countries and territories.
