Save The Waves App Coastal Marine Debris & Trash Data

The Save The Waves App empowers surfers, beach-goers and ocean lovers to crowdsource key data on the most pressing issues facing our coastal communities. Users document threats they encounter in coastal ecosystems by taking a photo, describing the issue, selecting a threat category, and geolocating their location with their phone's GPS. The data uploaded here is all of the coastal marine debris & trash data that has been reported on the Save The Waves App as of December 2022. The data contain the location, timestamp, description, image link, and type of trash (uncategorized Trash "Trashed", fishing gear, microplastics and plastic packaging). Data has been quality controlled for obvious erroneous reports, but incorrect categorization and locations/timestamps can't be verified.
